  • Description:
    • The course of study provides students with a basic foundation in the field of economics. The subject has five domains to be mastered: Fundamental Economic Concepts, Microeconomic Concepts, Macroeconomics Concepts, International Economics, and Personal Finance Economics.
    • It is a mandated Georgia Department of Education (GDOE) class required for graduating and receiving a valid high school diploma.
    • GDOE requires that all students enrolled in this class take the End-of-Course-Test). The EOCT counts as the Final Examination (15% of your final grade). There is NO EXAM EXEMTION!!!

    • Passing the GEORGIA EOCT in Economics (2007 Edition- American Book Company)
    • Economics: Principles In Action (2005 Edition- Prentice Hall)
    • Georgia Performance Standards (GPS’s- GDOE)
    • Georgia EOCT Study Guide (Dec. 2007- GDOE)
  • Progress Reports:
    • Parents may check grades on-line (www.gcssk12.ga.us). See front office for procedures and password. Students may check their grades on-line each day at GHS.
    • GCSS system has established dates for hard copies of student progress to send. See 2010-2011 GHS Student Handbook.
  • PARENT CONFERENCE:
    • To ensure a proactive approach to student academic success, it is recommended that student and parent(s) schedule a parent-student-teacher conference with the teacher by the end of the first nine weeks of the semester.

    • Notebook (NTBK)- at least a 2-inch, 3-ring notebook

    • WEEKLY, Current Affairs Report (CAR”s) on assigned “Topic.”

        • Topic Choice(s) posted weekly on board
          • If multiple choices are given, choose one!
Printed copy of article and CAR summary must be placed in Economic Journal section of notebook.

  1. ID’s are worn during the school day (including my class time) at all times.
  2. Cell phones/electronic devices are NOT permitted during class periods.
  3. NO hats are permitted to be worn in the school building.

  • Missed Work and Make-up Work
    • STUDENTS WILL HAVE TWO (2) DAYS TO MAKE UP WORK FOR EVERY DAY MISSED. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES MAY WARRANT TEACHER OR ADMINISTRATIVE DISCRETION FOR ALLOWING DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENTS.
Emergency Procedures

        Students will follow the commands of the teacher, adult or any school official in the case of an emergency.  In the case of a fire, students will evacuate out the front of the building across the horse shoe and form up with their class.  In the case of a tornado students will set against the interior walls of the class room while following any given instructions.  In the case of an earthquake students will place themselves under a desk and follow any instructions given by the teacher.  In the case of any other emergency follow the instructions of the classroom teacher or any school officials.
